Compute comparisons

nafnaf vs Lambda

A nafnaf rental and a Lambda instance can both run AI workloads, but they are not interchangeable resource bundles. Compare the exact machine, workload runtime, and cost of moving your data.

A GPU-hour is not a whole server specification

Lambda advertises single- and multi-GPU instance configurations, with its software stack preinstalled. Check the exact GPU count and whether a displayed rate is per GPU or for the complete instance. A required multi-GPU bundle can exceed the budget for one card even when its per-GPU rate looks attractive.

On nafnaf, inspect the container's RAM and shared CPU limit rather than confusing them with host totals. The advertised usable VRAM belongs to the GPU allocation. These limits matter for dataset preparation, model loading, and checkpoint export as much as the GPU's compute speed.

Include dataset movement in the estimate

Lambda's instance page advertises minute-based billing and no egress fees. nafnaf's GPU offers include separate measured-transfer rates. A transfer-heavy job therefore needs a different comparison from a long-running job that uploads a small dataset once.

For each candidate, estimate the total compute duration, the storage retained between sessions, and bytes transferred in both directions. Then run a representative slice of the job. A price per hour alone cannot establish the lowest price per trained model or processed dataset.

Choose for the scale you actually need

A single available RTX PRO 6000 can be useful when your workload fits its memory and does not require a distributed setup. It is not a substitute for a particular multi-GPU topology, interconnect, or fleet capacity. Verify these explicitly before planning a distributed run.

nafnaf is a Swiss platform, but independent hosts can run in different countries. Select the actual machine location and contractual requirements you need. Neither a company address nor a GPU model by itself establishes data residency or a service-level agreement.

Before you choose

  • Check whether prices are per GPU or per complete instance.
  • Match CPU, RAM, storage, and required interconnect.
  • Include egress and retained storage in the full job cost.
  • Verify inventory and location before planning a large run.

For paid GPU rentals, compare the final USD price and applicable taxes for your actual configuration. We do not claim that nafnaf is the cheapest for every GPU, model, or workload.
