Is nafnaf cheaper than Runpod?
It depends on the GPU, cloud tier, and workload. Our sampled RTX 4090 offer was $0.48 per GPU-hour. Runpod's rate card listed $0.34 for Community Cloud and $0.89 for Secure Cloud. nafnaf falls between those two prices, not below both. For intermittent inference, a serverless deployment may cost less overall even with a higher running rate.
This nafnaf-authored comparison separates a GPU-hour quote from the complete bill. We checked the sources on 13 October 2026 and use one clearly named GPU rather than treating similarly named cards as interchangeable.
RTX 4090: compare the cloud tier too
| Product | GPU-hour | 10 hours | 100 hours |
|---|---|---|---|
| nafnaf, Host 9 | $0.48 | $4.80 | $48.00 |
| Runpod Community Cloud | $0.34 | $3.40 | $34.00 |
| Runpod Secure Cloud | $0.89 | $8.90 | $89.00 |
Sources: nafnaf's offer catalog and Runpod's pricing page, marked updated 8 October 2026. The calculation puts nafnaf 46.1% below the Secure Cloud compute rate; Community Cloud is $0.14/hour below nafnaf. These are advertised rates, not a reservation or a guarantee of available capacity.
Matching the GPU does not match the service. Runpod distinguishes Secure Cloud data-center infrastructure from Community Cloud peer-to-peer supply. Our sampled nafnaf host was in Switzerland with 32 GiB container RAM and eight shared vCPUs. Compare CPU, RAM, storage, region, and operational requirements before treating the offers as equivalent. Runpod's cloud-tier guidance.
For new GPU rentals, providers receive their asking rate and renters pay a 5% consumer fee on top: $1.00 for the provider + $0.05 for nafnaf = $1.05 total. Displayed renter prices already include that fee. The table preserves historical renter totals from 13 October, before this fee-basis change; do not add another 5% to those snapshots. Existing bookings keep their agreed terms, and managed endpoints have separate pricing.
Storage and transfer can change the winner
Runpod documents no ingress or egress fees for Pods. Its volume disk is $0.10/GB-month while running and $0.20 while stopped; standard network volumes below 1 TB are $0.07/GB-month. Container disks are a separate item. These distinctions matter when comparing an attached workspace with a portable volume. Runpod Pod billing.
The sampled nafnaf RTX 4090 had storage at $0.20/GB-month, download-to-host at $0.006510417/GB, and upload-from-host at $0.00780599/GB. For 100 compute hours, 100 GB allocated for exactly those hours, 100 GB downloaded, and 20 GB uploaded:
- Compute:
100 × $0.48 = $48.00. - Storage:
100 × $0.20 × 100 / 720 ≈ $2.7778. - Transfer:
100 × $0.006510417 + 20 × $0.00780599 ≈ $0.8072. - Estimated usage total: $51.58, before any applicable taxes.
This uses nafnaf's 30-day billing month and assumes no storage time after the job. It is not a Runpod total-price quote: build the corresponding Pod configuration, including every disk, to obtain that. For large datasets, Runpod's documented Pod transfer policy can outweigh a higher GPU-hour price.
On either service, distinguish stopping compute from deleting retained resources. On nafnaf, paused workspace storage remains billable. Runpod likewise charges retained volume storage after stopping; its container disk does not persist across a stop. Export anything important before destructive cleanup.
A rental and serverless inference buy different things
Runpod offers managed Serverless workers that can scale to zero, alongside always-running workers. Billing includes startup, execution, and the configured idle period before shutdown. A worker's hourly equivalent is therefore not the price per model response. Runpod Serverless pricing.
For an illustrative workload, compare 100 hours of a continuously allocated $0.48 GPU with 20 total billable worker-hours at a hypothetical $1.00 rate: $48 versus $20 in compute. This is arithmetic, not a performance benchmark or a quoted Runpod configuration. If cold starts, model loading, or minimum workers push the second number upward, the result changes.
nafnaf also offers token-priced inference separately from GPU rental. When you only need supported model responses, compare cost per completed task and model capabilities. When you need custom code, weights, training, or a persistent environment, compare rentals. Do not use a temporary free launch offer as the long-term price of either product.
Both platforms can be used by agents
Runpod publishes an official MCP server for managing Pods, endpoints, templates, and volumes. Its hosted service supports Runpod sign-in; it can also run locally. Agent-friendly infrastructure is already a real category, not something unique to nafnaf.
nafnaf's local MCP adapter uses expiring, scoped agent credentials with server-enforced spending authority, rental duration, price, and concurrency limits. The owner first funds the account and authorizes the task. The agent can then rent and clean up within those limits. This is autonomous use of prepaid funds, not autonomous funding through a card or crypto wallet. Our agent guide covers that distinction.
For either integration, ask what a leaked key could do, how a timed-out booking is reconciled, and which resource keeps costing money after the task finishes. Tool availability alone does not answer those questions.
Choose the cheapest setup that actually fits
Start with nafnaf when a listed host meets your location, memory, and runtime requirements, and its total cost is attractive. Explicit agent authorization is useful when delegating a finite task instead of handing software broad account access.
Evaluate Runpod when Community Cloud gives a better quote, when you need its data-center tier, or when Serverless better matches intermittent demand. Persistent network volumes and its broader product range may simplify an existing deployment. Neither a low fee nor a low headline price replaces a workload test.
Common questions
Can I assume an RTX PRO 6000 comparison is like-for-like?
No. Confirm Blackwell versus Ada or Ampere, full GPU versus a MIG partition, Max-Q versus other power variants, memory, and host resources. This article deliberately uses the clearly identified RTX 4090 for its numeric comparison.
Where do I check the current nafnaf rate?
Open the GPU marketplace. Inspect the offer's complete terms, storage and transfer rates, and observed uptime before booking. The historical prices in this article do not override a current quote.
Sources and method
Checked 13 October 2026. Runpod figures use its published Community and Secure Cloud rate-card values, not older articles or an authenticated capacity reservation. The nafnaf quote comes from a specific available offer. All calculations are USD estimates, exclude taxes and promotional discounts, and do not establish equivalent throughput or service guarantees.
